Seniors awarded $1,000 each

The Footsteps Foundation, a community-based mentoring and scholarship program for African American girls, awarded $3,000 in scholarships to deserving students during the Bunnell High School Senior Awards Assembly on June 3 — $1,000.00 scholarships each to Brianna Dash, Kiandra Olufowobi and Nekia Washington.

The recipients demonstrated a commitment to furthering their education, good character and an exceptional history of community service, according to the foundation. The young ladies will receive their high school diplomas on June 26.

These scholarships were provided with the help from local supporters and Stratford businesses, including DJ Terrible T; Hair I Am – By Desiree; Kingston Kafe – Authentic Jamaican Restaurant; Obsidian Partnership; Station House Wine Bar & Grill; and Town Line Fine Wine, Spirits & Beer.
